Job Details

Oversee the maintenance and repair of buildings, offices, research facilities, and other physical structures to ensure they are in good condition.

Manage the procurement, inventory, and maintenance of equipment and tools used by staff members in their work.

Implement safety protocols, conduct inspections, and address safety concerns to ensure compliance with regulations and guidelines.

Optimize the utilization of available space within facilities, allocating spaces for different departments and functions.

Implement sustainable practices related to energy efficiency, waste management, and water conservation within the organization's facilities.

Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers, negotiate contracts, and coordinate services.

Develop and implement emergency protocols, ensure availability of emergency supplies, and conduct drills or training sessions for staff members.

The Successful Applicant

Bachelor's degree or Masters' in Facilities Management, Environmental Science, or a relevant discipline can be an advantage but may not be mandatory

Prior experience in facilities management, preferably in a conservation or research organization.

Strong knowledge of facility maintenance, equipment management, and safety protocols.

Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.

Familiarity with environmental sustainability practices and regulations.

Proficient in vendor management and contract negotiation.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with stakeholders.

Knowledge of building systems, maintenance procedures, and repairs.

Familiarity with equipment used in research or conservation activities.

Understanding of safety regulations and compliance requirements.

Strong leadership skills to effectively manage facility maintenance teams and coordinate with various stakeholders.
