Responsibilities

Day to Day Operations

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deploy scalable and efficient network architectures that meet the unique requirements of our clients' digital transformation initiatives.

Implement and maintain robust network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection systems, and other security technologies, to safeguard our clients' data and systems from potential threats.

Install, configure and support network equipment including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS and DHCP.

Monitor URL, networks, systems, storage and data centers using a wide variety of tools within the consolidated 24x7 Network Operations Centre.

Provide certainty that all alerts are addressed in a timely manner to meet and/or exceed external Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and internal Service Level Objectives (SLOs).

Liaise with vendors and fault management teams to identify, troubleshoot and resolve system related issues, and escalate to senior engineers as required to ensure client satisfaction.

Prioritize and perform triage on network and systems by creating, updating and routing tickets to concerned teams.

Provide critical service outage notifications and escalate issues for timely resolution.

Support and administer firewall environments through firewall logs analysis in line with IT security policy.

Perform disaster recovery operations, report network operational status by gathering and prioritizing information, and record data backups when required.

Integrate on-premises network infrastructure with cloud services, ensuring smooth data flow and optimized network performance across hybrid environments.

Monitor network performance, proactively identify issues, and troubleshoot network outages or other connectivity problems to minimize downtime and maintain high availability.

Conduct capacity planning assessments to anticipate network growth and ensure adequate resources are in place to meet future demands.

Stay up-to-date with the latest networking technologies and conduct periodic network upgrades and maintenance to improve performance and security.

Work closely with internal teams to understand project requirements and document network designs, configurations, and procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing and future reference.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Minimum Experience

5+ years of relevant experience as a Network Engineer in a professional IT environment.

Experience working with network equipment from vendors like Cisco, Juniper, Arista, or HPE.

Experience with cloud networking services and concepts, such as AWS VPC, Azure Virtual Network, and Google Cloud Networking.

Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools, such as Wireshark, Nagios, SolarWinds, or PRTG.

Strong understanding of networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs, and VPNs.

Proficiency in implementing and managing network security solutions such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, access control lists, and encryption technologies.
