What You Will Do:

Provides day-to-day leadership of Engineering staff assigned. Assigns projects to Engineers and monitors the progress of all assigned projects. Ensures the delivery of high-quality service and maintenance of good customer relations.

Review of engineering documents like, piping P&IDs, hydraulic calculations, manuals, fire control plans, firefighting systems, etc.

Review includes both Marine (Ships) and Offshore (OSVs, Jack-ups, MOUs, MODUs) related aspects.

Review will be based on the ABS Class Rules, Statutory regulations like SOLAS, MARPOL, MODU Codes, ILO, etc. and Flag Administration specific requirements.

Devises new approaches to problems encountered and makes recommendations for changes in methods, procedures, or design where necessary.

Monitors the technical quality, content, consistency, continuity, and timeliness of action of all assigned projects.

Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of technical responsibility. Performs engineering reviews and analyses when necessary. Reviews other engineers' work and provides appropriate guidance and training when necessary.

Participates in the development and changes of Rules. Advises assigned staff in matters related to the application of Rules and Regulations.

Prepares written response to clients in accordance with established procedures.

Maintains liaison with other engineering specialists internally and externally.

Monitors the performance, development potential and training needs of engineers assigned. Keeps management informed of manpower needs.

Develops or assists in the development of qualification statements, proposals, bids and other presentation materials.

Implements and maintains the ABS Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental Management Systems within assigned area of responsibility.

Prepares accurate billing to clients.

What You Will Need:

Education and Experience

B.S. degree in Mechanical or other related disciplines.

Demonstrated computer literacy in engineering software.

Ten to fifteen (1015) years of related engineering experience in a shipyard, design/consulting office, shipping/oil company, or a classification society; or four (4) years as an ABS Engineer II.

Internal candidates should have at least four (4) year of experience working as an Engineer II.

Classification Society Engineering experience is Highly preferred and considered as an added advantage.
