Role Purpose:

To facilitate all the segments of WBG in offering right products to the clients to cater their customized commercial needs; and

To be a single contact point for WBG to manage Sharia review and approval working closely with different teams of Sharia Supervision Division

Key Accountabilities of the role

Structuring and management of Islamic products and services for WBG within the framework and regulations of Sharia.

Assessment and suitability of existing suite of funded and unfunded products, as well as advising and implementation of new products in pipeline.

Liaising with stakeholders throughout the transaction process to ensure the Sharia requirements are properly communicated.

Seek sharia guidelines on the proposed transaction structures and obtain their approval to the facility documents.

Review and recommend Sharia compliant operational policies and procedures and various legal agreements.

Streamline the Sharia review and approval process to enhance the turnaround.

Liaise and follow up with other departments such as Finance, Risk, IT, Operations and Compliance to get the products approved and implemented.

Assist Head of Corporate Banking in evaluating the needs of the various business segments for Islamic products in order to capitalize on market opportunities and adjust marketing strategies to reflect changing conditions.

Redevelop or reengineer existing Islamic corporate products and services based on the assessed needs of the market.

Support and train Relationship Managers in identifying and resolving Islamic Banking related issues with their customers.

Assist in developing Sharia compliant operational policies and procedures in accordance with Sharia approved product structure.

Ensure the compliance of WBG products in coordination with Sharia audit department.

Conduct regular advising and counseling sessions for Relationship Mangers on related topics and products to keep them updated on Sharia matters.

Specialist Skills / Technical Knowledge Required for this role:

Masters (Preference will be accorded to professionally qualified candidates).

Certification or PGD in Islamic Banking.

Should have at least 10 years’ experience in Islamic product structuring and review.

Must have thorough knowledge of Islamic Banking products and the underlying Islamic law of contracts.

Good communication and presentation skills.
