Key Roles & Responsibilities
•Analyze financial statements and transactions to identify and assess tax liabilities.
•Prepare and file periodic tax returns for the university and its subsidiaries, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations.
•Provide input on tax-efficient financial decisions, such as investment choices, asset management, and funding sources.
•Serve as the primary resource to the campus and management for the assigned tax areas.
•Offer solutions for tax matters while ensuring the University’s full compliance.
•Maintain accurate and organized records of all tax-related documents and transactions.
•Ensure proper documentation to support tax deductions, credits, and exemptions.
•Prepare and submit reports to relevant tax authorities in a timely and accurate manner.
•Handle any tax-related audits and inquiries, working closely with the university's legal team.
•Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations that may impact the university and implement necessary adjustments to remain compliant.
•Document business processes pertaining to the position’s duties
•Offer guidance to university departments and administration on tax matters, including grants, scholarships, and payroll taxes.
•Educate university stakeholders on tax-related issues, and policies.
•Provide tax-related training and information to university staff to ensure proper compliance.
•Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations through continuous learning and research.
• Liaison with tax auditors, tax regulators as well as external auditors in matters related to all taxes.
• Provide guidance for tax related adjustments/entries in the books of accounts.
•Manage tax grouping and tax carry forward of credits and charges.
•Ensure adherence to a transfer pricing related tax rules.
• Adhere to the University's information security and confidentiality policies and procedures, and report breaches or other security risks accordingly
• Coordinate with other departments to facilitate the accomplishment of tasks and responsibilities, as and when needed
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager
