Responsibilities

Support scouting activities in Universities and Energy companies to identify research areas/projects of interest in optimization for energy.

Support colleagues in the ASPIRE organization to identify industry and government areas of activity, problem definitions and use cases within Energy Modelling and their data implications, that lead to research and development projects.

Conduct Energy Modelling research and development based on industry and scientific challenges as defined and agreed by the Director.

Interact with TII Renewable and Sustainable Energy Research Center and other departments to create research and development projects within Energy Modelling thematic areas, that leads to patents and intellectual property.

Deliver Energy Modelling projects by hands on activity, ensuring they meet with project aims.

Interact with other TII Renewable and Sustainable Energy Centers and departments to develop optimization tools for computational modeling.

Contribute to securing relevant Intellectual Property on the team’s projects.

Produce timely progress reports to management and industrial partners.

Assist team members with constructive criticisms of manuscripts preparation, rehearsals of talks, etc.

Assist team members with ad hoc prototyping of optimization solutions in the energy Modeling space.

Maintain a technology watch on emerging data science, computer modelling and specifically Energy Modelling and disseminate the relevant information to team members.

Generally, contribute to fostering a friendly, ambitious, impactful and productive team and working environment.

Requirements

Excellent knowledge and skills within mathematical optimization, preferably specializing in Energy.

Interest in the development and fostering of optimization algorithms;

Experience in conducting and/or supporting research in modeling of systems, preferably specializing in Energy Modelling;

A high-level of knowledge of development process and demonstrable fluency in programming languages and libraries (preferably two out of python, MATLAB and R) in processes related to Energy Modelling;

Beneficial: knowledge in modeling and simulation commercial packages related to energy;

A high-level knowledge of the data analysis and Optimization landscape;

Demonstrable abilities for effective English written and oral communication.
