Responsibilities

Conduct scouting activities in Universities, Research Institutes, and companies to identify innovative technologies, projects, and areas for potential collaborations.

Support colleagues in the ASPIRE organization to identify industry and government areas of activity, problem definitions and use cases within Water Production and Delivery, that lead to research and development projects.

Lead and execute high value R&D projects in Water treatment, Production and Delivery, based on industry needs and scientific challenges with the specific aim of developing and implementing next generation technologies for real-world applications.

Interact with TII Renewable and Sustainable Energy Research Center and other departments to create research and development projects within Water Production and Delivery thematic areas, that leads to patents and intellectual property.

Interact with other TII Renewable and Sustainable Energy Centers and departments to develop data analysis tools and computational modeling.

Contribute towards generating high value intellectual property in the form of high impact journal publications and patent filings.

Train and mentor junior researchers and technical staff to assist in the projects.

Produce timely progress reports for management and to external stakeholders.

Assist team members with constructive criticisms of manuscripts preparation, rehearsals of talks, etc.

Contribute to team meetings by reporting ongoing work and giving feedback to colleagues on their progress reports.

Maintain a technology watch on emerging Water Treatment, Production and Delivery trends in their area of expertise and disseminate the relevant information to team members.

Contribute to outreach activities directed towards the public during science fairs, students’ visits, and other relevant public events.

Highly informed and actively participating in Environment, safety, and health best practices to promote a safe working environment.

Generally, contribute to fostering a friendly, ambitious, impactful, and productive team and working environment.

Requirements

A minimum of 7 years of experience in conducting research, product development and implementation of innovative technologies in Water Treatment, Production and/or Delivery systems

A high-level of process knowledge and experience in various Water Treatment, Production and/or Delivery systems and technologies such as MF/UF/NF/RO filtration, FO and PRO, electrodialysis reversal, capacitive deionization and membrane distillation.

Hands-on experience in modelling tools such as CFD, FEA, multi-phase flow analysis, etc. would be considered highly valuable.

Experience in implementing ML/AI tools in digitization of water management is highly desirable.

A high-level knowledge of current and futuristic trends and innovation needs in the water sector.

Minimum of 7 years of experience as senior researcher in an industrial or academic setting in a relevant field, with relevant high-impact publications and/or patent filings.

Prior responsibilities for training and mentoring students and technical staff.

Demonstrable abilities for effective English written and oral communication.

Strong knowledge and appreciation of Environment, Health, and Safety practices

Project management skills (PMP certification would be ideal).

Knowledge and experience with statistical tools such as DoE and SPC are highly regarded.
