The successful candidate will lead research and development of Aircraft Electric-Hybrid Propulsion System power electronics architectures and components.

The candidate will work closely with the Director of the Aircraft Propulsion Research and other members of the Hybrid Electric Research team to define and execute hybrid electric research programs.

Lead the research team to define requirements and define the preferred hybrid electric architectures and perform simulations using OpalRT or other simulation environments.

Procure components and assemble prototype architecture for testing.

Define and procure test bench infrastructure. Develop and execute test plans.

Lead hardware-in-the-loop virtual constructive simulation testing of hybrid electric systems

Interface with aircraft developers to prepare technology for transition and commercialization

Develop personal knowledge and skills related to the latest techniques and applications relevant to electrified propulsion technology.

Collect and reduce test data, review, and write technical reports.

Prepare and write papers for submission to peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings.

Execute research activities on schedule and with conformity to established regulations (health, safety, regulations, ethics)

Develop and implement action plans to address issues associated with power electronics as they arise on programs


Experience in aviation electrical power engineering

Experience with high voltage and high-power converters/inverters

Working knowledge of EMI (CM an DM), transformers, and semiconductor switches and different PWM schemes

Simulation experience with OpalRT including hardware-in-the-loop testing

Working knowledge and design experience with 3-phase motor/generator systems

Strong Electrical circuit design experience and layout knowledge

Familiarity with Aviation standards for certification of power electronics and propulsion systems including DO-160G, DO-178, Part 33 and Part 23

Hands on experience working in a lab environment

Experience leading a team preferred

Strong oral and written communication skills

Fluency in English is required. Arabic is considered a plus.
