Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and manage the pastry team, fostering a collaborative and creative environment.
Set clear expectations, provide training, and ensure consistent performance evaluations.
Collaborate with the culinary team to align pastry offerings with the overall culinary vision of the establishment.
Design and develop a diverse and imaginative range of pastries, desserts, and baked goods that reflect current culinary trends and guest preferences.
Create seasonal menus, special event offerings, and limited-time promotions that elevate the guest dining experience.
Uphold the highest standards of taste, texture, and presentation in all pastry creations.
Monitor food quality and presentation during service, ensuring consistency and adherence to established standards.
Continuously research and experiment with new techniques, ingredients, and flavours to keep the dessert menu fresh and exciting.
Collaborate with suppliers to source high-quality, sustainable ingredients.
Maintain a well-organised and efficient pastry kitchen, adhering to all health and safety standards.
Monitor inventory levels, control costs, and minimise waste to ensure optimal resource utilisation.
Engage with guests to understand their preferences, gather feedback, and adapt the pastry offerings accordingly.
Participate in guest events, food festivals, and culinary demonstrations to showcase pastry expertise.
Provide ongoing training to the pastry team on new techniques, menu changes, and industry trends.
Foster a learning culture that encourages skill development and growth.
Requirements
What We’re Looking For
A minimum of 3 to 4 years of experience in a comparable role.
Culinary degree with a specialisation in pastry arts or equivalent experience.
Proven track record of success in a similar luxury hospitality environment.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
Creative flair and a passion for staying at the forefront of pastry trends.
Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to delivering impeccable quality.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in managing budgets and controlling costs.
Flexible schedule to accommodate varying business demands.
A portfolio showcasing previous pastry creations is a plus.
